Soulful and melancholic, Emily Jane’s music is reminiscent of artists like Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Keaton Henson. Centred around simplicity and vulnerability, Emily and her guitar aim to tell a story with every song. Her songs are not only a reflection of her own life, but an invitation for listeners to reflect on theirs.

Beginning with just vocal guitar before transgressing into a dream-like collection of strings, harmonies and piano, ‘Behind Closed Doors’ will take you on a journey. ‘Until Then’ plays next, recounting feelings of isolation, loneliness and is the anthem for anyone who feels like they are just simply getting by. Emily drops her acoustic for a layered electric guitar in the final instalment of the EP with ‘Scintilla’. Emily presents herself as her most submissive with lines like “You always turn from me when you sleep / I’ll let you take up as much space as you need / I just wish you’d look at me” as she recounts the subservience and helplessness felt when you feel a significant other is going to leave.
